Students at William Woods University are demonstrating a combination of raw talent and learned ability through the student photography exhibit, which is open until Friday, Feb. 24, on the second floor of Gladys Woods Kemper Center of the Arts.
The exhibit, titled Personal Perspectives, displays a wide-array of student photography on a variety of subjects. Horses, nature and couples are among the most popular subjects photographed.
Students included in the show were enrolled in the fundamentals of photography class during the fall semester of 2011.
The students are Devin Jeffres, Amanda Seitter, Mere Culbertson, Meagan Roberts, Hilary Fink, Hannah Jay, Kate Elson, Mark Loeber, Jamie Skubal, Amanda Coehoorn, Meghan Warren, Jessica Hornung, Katy Carron and Jessica Rackers.
They chose five of their best pieces of work completed for the class to display as part of the exhibit. Displaying their photos publically provides them an excellent opportunity to reach the public eye.
?One of the purposes of photography, like any other art form, is to share work with an audience,? said Bob Elliott, assistant professor of graphic arts. ?This exhibit gives students that opportunity. Student photographs become more than just a response to a class assignment. They become a publically shared artistic expression.?
Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts is open to the public Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 573-592-4245.
