As part of that effort, more than 150 girls recently held a free holiday meal at the Birdsboro Community Center for more than 75 people in need.
"I feel like the community came together," said Christy Ruth, leader of a Brownie troop in Douglassville. "It was fun and it was festive."
The Brownie troop organized the meal, which was sponsored by the Daniel Boone service unit.
The troop coordinated the effort with Love Inc., a service group comprising members of Birdsboro-area churches. Love Inc. hosts regular free meals and looks to partner with organizations such as the Girl Scouts.
More than 10 Scout troops took part in the meal, with girls ranging from kindergarten-age through high school.
With help from parents, they purchased and prepared a traditional holiday dinner with ham, turkey, filling, mashed potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce and cookies.
During the dinner, they sang Christmas carols and gave each guest an ornament handmade by Scouts in the Daniel Boone service area.
In September, the troops began the effort to perform the hundred acts of community service, and they are about halfway to accomplishing their goal.
Other kind acts have included donating to local food pantries and an animal shelter. They also helped pack toys for the Toys for Tots program.
Troops nationwide will celebrate the Girl Scouts' centennial in 2012.
